A Breath & Body Awareness Guide
Founder of Mayumido
Mayumi Hasegawa
Born in Tokyo, Japan. Based on the U.S. West Coast.
After graduating from the Department of Architecture at Kogakuin University, Mayumi founded her first business in 2000.
In 2009, prolonged overwork and chronic stress led to a sudden loss of voice, marking a turning point in her life and career.
Seeking recovery, she began studying breathwork under Hiroaki Fujimori, a longtime mentor and breathwork practitioner she had known since childhood.
Through this experience, she deeply realized that softening and releasing effort are fundamental to true well-being. After nearly a year, her voice returned naturally.
In 2014, a family health crisis prompted her to further explore qigong and embodied energy practices. Since then, she has continued to refine an approach that integrates breath, body awareness, and subtle internal regulation through ongoing practice and observation.
In 2017, she opened Mayumido Breathwork Classes in Tokyo.
In 2019, she relocated her base to the U.S. West Coast, launching online breathwork sessions in 2021.
In 2023, she established HIBIKI Wellness Dojo in Portland, Oregon.
Today, Mayumi facilitates breathwork classes, body awareness sessions, and small-group retreats in Japan and internationally.
Her work focuses on supporting people in reconnecting with their natural sense of ease, inner stability, and embodied presence through practical, experience-based practices.
She has guided over 1,000 individuals through individual sessions and group programs over the past 18 years.
